convo pro
im going to get some convo pros for my 71 camaro . i am going to get 15,s all round and im thinking 8,s on the back and 7,s on the front but if i can get 7.5,s on the front ill do it. i jst dont know what backspacing the 71,s can take.i only just got into camaros.its a weird system but in the convo pros the 7,s and the 8,s both have 3,3/8 back space but the 7.5,s have a 5 inch backspace... kinda weird but if i can fit the 7.5,s in the front i might as well do it dont you think to get as much of those sexy looking ribs on the wheel as i can. anyone got any info????

You do not say where you have been shopping, but Summit lists a 5" backspace for both sizes. You need to measure your car for proper backspacing. Go here: http://www.bigblockdart.com/techpage...lspacing.shtml
I managed to fit 10" wheels in the rear of my 72. I did very little work on the wheelhouse but wheels had to be custom made for correct backspace.

I used 10" blanks for the rears. The blanks were from a pair of white spokes that a dealer was happy to get rid of. The centers I used are the original Z28s removed (carefully) from wheels I have. We made a jig at work to help us get everything centered and true. Tack welded them, spun them to check everything and had a local guy TIG weld them. Total backspace was 6 1/4". Only thing bad was I had to give up my rear disc brakes to keep stock appearing wheels that are wider.

I really didn't get a chance to put it to the test before the snow started. But I do like the stance of the car with the air ride. Plus it's nice to have adjustable height. There are tradeoffs though. Long tube headers are pretty much out of the question and limited tire size to still fit in the wheelhouse. It is a lot of money but the payoff should be in the handling. I have had the opportunity to drive a number cars with air ride, It is a great system. We just finished a 34 Plymouth with 2005 Chrysler 300C drivetrain, the car handles fantastic. Also, we are installing the same setup as my Camaro in a 69 Mustang 428, I am looking forward to test driving it before the owner picks it up.
