anyone wanting to put cold air induction on their carbureted engine,go to www.spectreperformance.com .they got the hat that fits over the carb and the tubing.they have single inlets and dual inlets and round inlets that use a 4" element

 

will a cold air intake on a carb car make a diffrence? cuz i was thinkin about doin it to my car but i always thought it workedmoreso for just injected cars

 

The examples they showed aren't real CAIs. A real CAI picks up fresh air outside of the engine compartment, their air filters are inside the engine bay sucking up hot air, and thesharp turns into the carb air horn is not too good for power. But they look spiffy.

 

what if you run the flexible hoses toward the front of the engine compartment and put the filters on there.that would get cold air from the front of the car,just asking,i'm not committed to getting one.i need to learn about this alittle more before i go buy one

 

i saw the guys on musclecar do it with project blue collar buick, im not sure how well it worked but they basically ran a hose to the headlights and attached it to the air filter.

 

Check out screen name 73Z. His car got the real cold air intake from Spectre. It was put in on Horsepower TV. It IS a cold air intake.

 

Cold air intake (if routed ahead of the core support) will help, but I doubt you could feel any difference. It would take a dyno to be able to detect such a small gain in HP, and in my opinion not worth it for such an ugly setup. I could handle ugly if I really felt a marked increase in power.

 

If I was doing a CAI on my car I would rather do it via an intercooler setup from a blower! Just my thoughts!

 

you mean your just going to use an intercooler without a turbo

 

I've got the dual cold air intake from Spectre. I just hope it fits under the hood. The first thing I'll do when I get the engine in the car is put the sheet metal on and test fit that thing. If it doesn't work it goes on Ebay.
