carburetor issues
As many of you may know i took on the daunting task of putting new gaskets on the intake manifold. I decided to take the carb off the manifold in order to paint the manifold. (it came out great btw). Anyway, when it came time to put the carb back on, i fired the car up and HOLY CRAP talk about a high idle. I have a holley 650cfm 4 barrel double pumper. I tried everything with the carb and to no avail, it is still idling high. i tried adjusting the throttle linkage, messing with some screws, etc. I was thinking about the choke but i don't really know what that does. This is my carb:

If you guys need pictures of anything let me know i'll post them up. I am not too confident on the timing either though. My markings on the shaft of the distributor didn't quite line up with the marks on the manifold when i put everything back together. Would advanced timing cause this?

Did you rebuild the carb? It sounds like you have too much transfer slot showing. If you pull the carb off there are two slots at the bottom, they should look square. I think the proper measurement is .030" but can't remember off hand.

Timing, vacuum leak, etc. can all cause a high idle. Make sure you've got the correct base gasket, so you don't have a vacuum leak. Also make sure all the ports are plugged or have a hose connected to them.
Check the timing, if the old marks don't line up did you get it stabbed back in the same place, or?

Vacuum leak, or the timing is too far advanced. You can't guess at the timing without a light. Even advanced a few degrees will make a noticeable difference in higher idle speed. The video you posted describes the whole carb. When the choke is open, the blade will be in a vertical position, and the linkage will be off the fast idle cam.

Vacuum line has nothing to do with fuel supply. It will affect engine idle and vacuum advance. Fuel line rotted can cause fuel loss, but not the vacuum line. And how does the engine have "carbohydrates"????

More than likely it's the fravitz, or the disseldorf connection is plugged with those carbohydrates. If not that, then the gizzenfracker is not sending a signal to the defibrilator to jump start the fuel enabilator to get the flux core fired up.
One of those for sure!
