I think it might be just low on fluid. I just thought it would still move if it was low on fluid. Thanks for the help!

Ok, I understand I keep asking the same tough question, but how many quarts did you dump down the fill tube?
For easy reference.....how many quarts did you buy, and how many are now leftover?

Keep on filling, you're waaaaay low. Are you getting a reading on the stick?
Don't forget, when you get the level close, you want to run the trans up and down through the gears a couple of times, then put it in park and check the level.

Okay so today I filled the car with another 4 quarts. The issue the car is difficult to shift into drive. I had to move the part of the steerign column the spins as I moved the shifter to get it into drive and it still wouldn't go most of the time. When i was finally able to shift into drive it took off but I cant get it into drive. Is this a linkage issue? I have never driven this vehicle before and it was a thrill to take it around the block once

Also the trans reads overfilled after being run for a few minutes. So I think I have enough fluid hopefully

Definitely sounds like maybe the linkage is binding somewhere,if you can get a 2nd person to help,i would have them shift it (with the car turned off)while you are under the car to see if you can find the issue. As for the fluid level, check it when it's hot and you will probably be really close if not right on the full mark now.

Alright what in particular should I be looking for? I've never done any linkage work before.

Check this post^^^^^^
If the linkage going up to the column is hanging up it will hinder shifting. Remove the linkage and see if you can move the arm on the transmission by hand. If it moves, then the issue is in the linkage, or cable.
