Default camaro seat problems 79?

so i had to chop out my seat in my 79. i have other problems like the floor and crap to fix from im sure standing water eating my floorboard out. but it ate though the tracks on my seat i still have the seat but the tracks are done for. and, so is the seat but it still works. question is i cant find seat tracks for my car anywhere. and my dads 70s seat tracks wont work because the floors are different from the catalytic converter. how do i make a new seat work in my car without seat tracks? im stumped on how to go about new seats in my car.

thanks

There's a couple of ways to do it but first here's the years to search for:

70 = one year only

71 - 74 = should fit each other but there are seat rails ranging from 12.75 to 13.25 inches so you will need to measure them when looking for these years.

75 - 81 = should change between these years without any problems. Easy to spot because they have two tabs that bolt to the seat on the insides of the rail.

I just sold a set that would have worked for your car less than a month ago. I got 75 bucks for them on Ebay. I ALWAYS see seat tracks on Ebay for the 75 - 81's.

Good luck in your search if you go that way.

You can also buy universal seat tracks and fabricate a mount. I almost went that way but I won mine (the correct ones) off Ebay. There are some aftermarket brackets that are made for our seats but you have to buy their seats to go with them. The cool thing is you can interchange the seats with anything in their lines. I think SCAT had a really cool set of seats with brackets that mounted straight up to later second gen Camaros.

A few years ago i bought the jegs brand black vinyl seats,they came with new universal tracks already installed,then all i had to do was buy the universal mount set that is actually made for plastic racing seats,it was like $25,they adjust up and down so you can get the height correct.

Hmm. I can't tell ya about the custom stuff. Mine have surface rust and thats it. I will get you a pic as soon as I can. I could even blast them and coat them with some por 15 if you would want to donate a little extra to my Camaro fund. I have a gallon of Chassis Saver and a quart of POR 15 I should probable use up soon.

lol well im interested in them so hang on to them. im going to a u pull it looking for some good vinyl bucket seats ( if i can find them) i might make a custom setup because im a tall guy. and my head is really close to the headliner. so i might try and lower them as low as possible and weld them to where i like. im going to delete the back seats soon and get new carpet down the road so well see might just make a adjustable mount out of box tubing and see how low i can set them. i dont need the sliding ability
