Default back up light/ nuetral safety switch wiring

I have a 1979 Camaro. The dude that had it before me had a B&M Street Stick shifter in it. I can't figure out his wiring. The neutral safety switch "did'nt work" The back up lights did. Unfortunately I did'nt look when I unplugged the wires to replace the shifter.

There is one wire tapped into a purple wire and one wire tapped into a purple/white wire. Both go into the underdash wiring harness.

I'm putting in a Megashifter console shifter. The destructions say to cut the wires at the neutral safety/back up light switch and run them to the switches on the shifter.

Theres a plug with a red and a light green wire plugged into the stock neutral safety switch. These wires seem intact.

Can someone tell me if I'm correct in thinking the red is neutral safety and the light green is back up?

Also, any idea what the purple and purple/white wire is?? I checked them with the key on and off and theres no power in them.

Please, someone help me!

I've figured out half of my dilema. The purple and purple/white is the neutral safety switch. It is working now.

Anyone know if the switch on the steering column near the firewall is in fact the back up light switch?
