Default Antenna Question

replacing the antenna on my 70 camaro, have dash all apart for new dash
pad anyway, see old wire coming through hole in cowling, doesnt budge
wire is hidden, years ago we came out by the kick panel and under carpet, silly question i know, run it where i can, i guess?????

Does your Camaro have the antenna in the windshield, or mounted on a fender? Mine is in the windshiled, and runs through the cowl to the air intake below the windshield. Simply pull the screen off and reach in there to unplug it from the windshield.

It runs through the cowl, but I think it may have a connector in the middle, or a rubber grommet that needs to come out to let it move.

thanks bb427, but can you get to the inside of the cowl?? looks like a
sealed unit?

Yes, just pull the vent screens off the top and reach in there.

thanks again, thats what i thought too. im gettin old i guess, my first car
was a 57 chevy convertible, ahh, those were the days, gas 27 cents
a gallon

We must be around the same age I'd guess! My first Chevy was a '57 Belaire sedan that I bought from my parents in 1967!

pulled off vent screens, nothing there, must be in that flapper vent

I'll check my assembly manual and see if they show the fender type antenna routing.
