Default America's "biggest beater"-Overhaulin

So did anyone catch the 2nd gen rebuild on Overhaulin today? The theme was America's biggest beater, and the winner got to watch his car being disassembled, and assist in the design.
He wanted a 572 engine, and a pro touring look Camaro, with RS frontend. The whole car came out pretty nice, but I'm glad the owner was pleased with the paint, it sure wouldn't have been my choice.
Still a cool car, and a interesting build!

I saw it when it first aired. Fugly for sure. Pro touring its not. Makes me wonder if there was anyone upset about what they did. I remember one were a gut had a pretty hot motor and they swapped it for a crate motor. I would be pissed. Say you had a machine shop build you a nasty small block making 500hp and because it doesn't look like it cost 20g they pull it and replace it with a 300hp crate motor. Then they tell you how great it sounds. Chip does great work, most of those cars are simply awesome. I watched the show religiously, they almost never get given back with rear view mirrors on the door. I watched when they raced them, the Procharged Monte was the fastest, still a 12s car though. I would love to have them pick mine up, but I would be pulling the drive train.

Don't bother watching if you're looking for details. They never covered a single engine install moment, exceot to show them dropping the engine and trans in as a unit. No mention or sight of a mount for either. They also didn't cover anything at all on the rest the drivetrain or suspension, so I don't even know if it's a 10 bolt or a 12 bolt rear, and what they did for control arms, or brakes. Pretty much they covered repairing the body, and then the paint and interior. Nothing else.
Wonder what people will think of that paint job in 5-10 yrs.? I think as ugly as it is now, it will really date the car as it ages. That stuff goes out of style fast.

Wonder what his buddies told him when he got it home? Did they lei and say it was awesome or tell him to get a paint job? Chip has designed some of the best looking paint jobs I have ever seen. Some classy like the car he took to win the Riddler the last time. Some were flashy. This one is neither, talk about writers block.

Chip Foose is an awesome designer, and I wish I had 1% of his talent, but he does seem to get off track occasionally, and occasionally he gets in a rut. My friends and I call the general Foose rut look "Foosified".
When we see a car with the typical two or three tone paint job, large Foose type wheels, and low profile tires, they all scream of an Overhaulin Foosified car. Then there's the shaved door handles, and lack of exterior mirrors, etc.
Chip at times seems pretty disappointed when an owner's insider tells him the mark really likes stock looking cars. Seems to really cramp his style.

The Terra Cuda' was the nicest brown car I ever saw. He did pretty much invent the Creme on top Sunburst Orange on bottom paint job huh? Val. I admit I want my 85 Short Box done like that. It may be a Brown/Gold color on early 2000's Grand Prix's though. It has Saddle interior.
