Default Added some color.

Had some time today and the weather was nice, so I finished a project on the Camaro I've been planning for awhile. I wanted to accent the few red items I have on the engine, so I pulled off my Edelbrock valve covers and gave them some bling.
I masked off the outside smooth area and then sanded, cleaned and shot the ribbed area bright red:

Then I used a razor blade to remove most the paint on the fins once it dried. After that I sanded the remaining paint and polished the fins and lettering:

I polished the rest the smooth parts and reinstalled them. I like the dash of red to go with the plug wires and give the engine some contrasting color:

Lookin good. Too bad your on the other side of the country. I would take them to my dads polish shop for ya and make them look new. I have a set of finned covers. They came on my first car and I still rock them to this day. Didn't you get new brackets I can't tell in the pic.

That looks great! I like the razor blade idea, I was going to use a little thinner on a rag when I did mine...which is supposed to happen tomorrow. Thanks for the new idea!

That would have been much easier, and look even better! Yes, I did get new brackets and pulleys, plus a new Weiand alum. water pump.

Yeah, a friend of mine said he just uses a rag with thinner on it, but I was hesitant, as I thought it might wick into the paint and lift it.

Will you be painting any other parts purple? It's always good to have a few things match, but not too many or it gets too much of a good thing.
