81 z28 carb wiring?...
Hey guys, just getting my 81 Z28 finished up and on the road after several years, all stock, 350, 4 spd, a/c... I'm running a stock E4ME Quadrajet, the only things left to hookup are the choke wire, idle stop solenoid wire and a/c compressor wire (the green wire from the compressor, not the black ground), can anyone please tell me where these guys derive?... I have the correct connectors and wiring, but the originals were obviously chopped off somewhere, so I need to know EXACTLY where they begin so I can run new wires for them... Were they run thru the main engine harness, were they run thru the ecm harness, where do they begin?... Can anyone please help me out?...

Have you tried Google? Lots of diagrams there. Here's a couple I found quickly:

Thanks a bunch for the diagrams... I did look them over and printed them off so I can study them... I can't say that I see the choke or idle stop on them anywhere, I did see the green a/c wire in a diagram, but can't say that I understand where it's going... I am NO ELECTRICAL EXPERT by any means...lol But I will study them and see what I can find out... Anyone happen to know off the top of their head where these wires derive?...

The choke is easy, as it merely takes a 12v. hot to it. Any source that comes on with the ignition is fine. Could come from the + side of the coil and work fine.

Sweet, sounds simple enough... So it doesn't matter if the power is on to it ALL the time other than being turned off completely?... It won't keep the choke closed or something with a constant 12v power source?... Thanks again, I love your 71, I used to have a 73 but parted with it when I bought the GN...

No, it can't be on all the time, just whenever the key is on. If it stayed on when the key was off it would drain the battery.
Thanks! I'm kinda partial to it after 38+ years!

Constant (key on) power to the choke coil is what keeps it warm, and is what keeps the choke open.

Alright, maybe you electrical experts out there can assist me with this?... Looking at this link "http://www.justanswer.com/uploads/Te...06_radiowd.jpg", down in the lower left hand corner, it shows the compressor and fast idle solenoid, which they show the green and black wires coming out of the compressor and a green w/white stripe wire coming out of the solenoid, where are these three wires going to, what is that little "U" shaped dealy there, is that a body harness plug or something, is it a harness in the engine bay, any guidance would definitely help, I can restore, paint, rebuild anything, but am slightly ignorant when it comes to electrical components...lol

Right. The electric choke is designed to be connected to "keyed" power, not live when the key is off. For safety reasons, you wouldn't want it hooked up to constant battery power anyway, plus the choke would always be open, and you could burn out the coil element sooner.
