Default 81 Transmission

I have a 81 Camaro, I have not started it in about 7 weeks. I got it running and it would not go into gear.
I looked under the car all of the transmission fluid has leaked out. Where should I start to fix this??

Thanks for the help

Mike

That's kind of a vague question, so I can only give a vague answer.....find the leak and fix it!
Clean everything off, fill the trans with fluid again, start the car, and look to see where it's leaking from.

Agreeing with comments from before. Look forsimple places that the oil could have leaked from as a first step such as loose ATF cooling line fittings, loose drain plugs and oil pan gaskets. Finding the direction of the source is key here. If all these are in check, inspect the rear main seal. If there are no leaks detected from these points, the front main seal could be compromised. To repair this you will have to drop the trans. Honestly this is the least likely source of you problem. I bet you have a loose ATF cooling line.

yeah man, that question is way to vague to even give you any sort of awnser. what kind of tranny is it? ill assume its a th350. in which case it could be any of the previously mentioned. or it could be worse. your case could be cracked. in which case you will need a new transmission. but from the sounds of it. you have a bad seal or pan gasket. and how much is all of it? is the pan bone dry? or is there a big puddle on the floor. sorry to sound like a jerk. just its hard to give an answer with that kind of question. so what i would do is. spray the trans down with brake cleaner. than fill it with some fluid. see if any leaks out. if not fill it to the specified level. and monitor as you go. hope we helped you a little bit.
