Default 81 Dash Questions

What would be the best way to redo the dash of my camaro?

The dash is brown (the original color of the car) my trim pieces are all black and my seats are blue. Although I dont think they're the stock seats, I plan on getting them recovered after awhile. But the dash Is cracked and really faded. I really wish I could take a metal dash from a early 70's camaro and install it, but I know thats just not possible. When I bought the car, another dash was in the trunk. A green one. Its got a small crack on the passenger side, is there anyway I can fix either of them?

Fiberglass, redy, cover, or any preferred method?

The easiest way is to get an $80 dash cap to go over it but you may be able to fix the cracks in yours not sure though.

+1 to the dash cap. I bolted the top of mine down and other members have placed a length of angel iron on the top. They tend to not want to stay down on up there.

Yeah,i put a cap on mine and was done with it,took me about 20 minutes, very easy to install unlike trying to replace the whole dash.I think I paid like $129 for the cap and shipping together.

I'll probably do that. Ive seen aftermarket dashes and they go for like a grand?! Thats crazy. Anyhow, how do you mean for using angle iron?

Dont mean to beat the horse to death but the dash cap has to be the way. Trying to find a used good condition dash in the color you want is a hard find.

I think he was referring to using the angle under the dadh pad to pull the center down, alot of these cars have a dash that over the years got a curl right in the center so alot of people use angle or metal strips screwed under the dash to pull it back down.
