Default 74 Z28 value?

I have a line on a 74 Z28 with 979 documented miles. It is ALL original. It has the Type LT option package, 4 spd., am radio and that is it. It is decal delete and spoiler delete. overall very good shape, doesn't need much other than carpet--mildew and stained. It has surface rust on all the exposed clean metal ie. the sway bar, tie rod ends, exhaust. I was just wondering if anyone could give me a ballpark on how much this car could be worth. I am considering buying it and trying to get it back to show condition, but need to know a value.

I have seen all orginal 20K car sell in the 15-20K range but original with less then 1000 miles on it I would think the owner would want to put it infront of a lot of rich car collector and let them fight it out. This sure sounds like a Barret Jackson type car. I would be very worried if someone was offering a great price on a car like that.

I'd be worried about mildew and possible rust under the carpet! Regardless of miles, if the floors are rusted through it will significantly reduce the value. If they are olid and it only needs carpet, then I can't imagine a "documented" under 1000 mile car could go les than $15k.

Did it sit outside for that long then? How did the floors get that wet? Leaky windshield gasket I'd bet. I call BS until I see some proof. I have never ever heard of a Z28 without a spoiler.

It's very possible, not everybody likes the spoiler. The rear spoiler was optional on the Z/28, until it became standard equipment on the Z starting with the 1977 model. And I'm willing to bet there are more Camaros now that have a spoiler than what rolled off the line with one, which is probably why you've never seen a Z/28 without.

How many do you see without stripes too? If I found a car with that few miles, the first thing I'd do is pull the rear seat cushions to look for the build sheet. I would assume with the low miles it hasn't been removed, so should still be there to backup the info given. If it's not there, then look for chance of a repaint to determine if the stroy is true.

Strip delete is pretty common. They really did not go over well. I have never seen 74 Z without a spoiler but I do rememebr it was possible to delete it but only if you deleted the strips. Mildew smell is very common on cars that are not stored in a climate controled garage. From changes in tempture cause moisture on the metal parts in the interior and that will drip on the carpet. There should not be enough water volume to "pool" in the floor boards that normal causes the rust. With less then 1000 miles the floors should look as good as the quaters.

The mositure issue is very common in States that do not see cold winters. Once the air temp falls below 30 or so it carries very little mositure in it. But some state winter it is 38 degrees in the morning and 70 degree in the late afternoon most of the "winter".

Like Val said, I'll take the rear seat out, and look at the building sheet to see if everything adds up. If it's a legit LT Z28, without the spoiler, stripe option, & less the 1000 mile on it could be very valuable. It's very hard to give a estimate on a car without pics. But if it was everything the seller says it is, and maintained very well, & in excellent shape I'll say around 15K. The price ranges on '74 in excellent shape is 14K plus 10% with Z28 option.

Lately Ive been seeing a few LT Z28 go for aroung 8K in good condition.

Thanks for all the help. I'm still trying to get the full story on the car. I will update as I get info. The build sheet would be the first thing I look for.
