Default 72 stalls off line needing some help..

i got a 72 camaro z28 that i jus had completly rebuilt its got a fully built 355 with all the goodies and a 4 speed. i was havn traction problems so i put some wider miky thompsons street slicks in rear and some ladder bars. i have 3.73 gears in her right now.. but now when i go to get off the line it seams like i aint got the power to get off with all the traction now she jus wants to stall even after about a 7rpm side step the clutch... any one got some ideas so i can get her off the line with out the stall... thanks

Did you remember to release the emergency brake? Seriously though, make sure the brakes are releasing completely.
Have you checked things like, ignition timing, choke on the carb opening all the way when hot, carb float level... Also, how heavy of a flywheel are you using?

How much bigger are the new tires? If they're slicks, they're gonna grab more than street tires, How much air in em? try pumping them up a bit more. Just a thought.

After my dad and I built his 355 for his 68 short step the thing would fall on its face if you punched it. It had some 10.5x31 BFGs on it and could get some pretty good traction. Revving the motor was responsive, punching it from a roll also would bog it down. We played with the timing and carb settings for a while but nothing. We found that 8* static timing, and used the stock springs and weights on an accell HEI dizzy gave us the best settings, and the carb was too small. I cant remember the cam we used (too long ago and my memory is not what is was) but once we put a 750 on the engine that thing would set you back in the seats, and you would have to countersteer the torque when you punched it. We just didnt feed the engine enough fuel with the 600 on the top. Maybe your carb is too small...

Just a thought

I'm thinking the same as Massey; either the carb is too small, or you need a larger accelerator pump, or timing. Not much in the way of tires that would create a bog with a stick dropped at 7k! That ype of launch should overcome any tire issues, unless you were running huge wrinkle wall slicks!

yea the new tires im running are 10 inch wide mikey street slicks wich are really sticky and i got about 30 psi in them and with the new ladder bars are jus making it grab like a ***** wich i love but i hate it falling on its face from tryn to do a take off. it blew my mind when i did it with the 7k drop and nuthing cuz it lunged like a mother but jus fell. from a roll it wont it takes off like a raped ape its jus tryn to get off the line i jus put hotter plugs in it today and messed with carb a lil.. still aint helping much.. i jus ordered a new holley 750 double with a manual secondary to get rid of the 650 holley with vacum secondary i have now hopefully may help... but not sure wat eles can do
