Default 67 427?

I returned to my hometown recently. I hadn't been there in close to 7 years. I lived with my grandpa well he passed. On the other hand a few houses down sat a red Camaro with black racing stripes. Well upon my return the car still sits there I had a look at it and I happen to notice its decked with ss427 badges. Its sittin there rotting now. I have been wondering where there actual production 427 camaros other then like yenko or berger, baldwin motion, companies of that sort. I am curious if its a clone or aftermarket thing or if it might possibly be all original. Clint

No. I don't know for sure but I don't even think they made a 396 in '67. Don't take my word on that though. But for sure they did not make a 1967 427 Camaro. Sounds like someone just got some 427 badges and put them on the car.

Best I can remember 396, 375HP was the biggest engine for that year. The 427 was offerd in 1969.

I take that back about the 396. As I was searching for information about a Camaro I just bought I came across information saying there was a 396 like Z28Pete said. Told ya not to take my word for it.[8D]

The only factory camaros made with the 427 were the COPOs. A Central Office Production Order in 1969 had a handful of camaros made with the L72 427cid motor. most of these copos were ordered by Yenko Cheverolet in Cannonsburg Pennslvania where the dealer options were addded. Not all Yenko camaros were COPO cars. There are still some COPOs around today, they are very rare and are sleepers. their exteriors didn't alude to what lie under the hood. the copos were usually solid colors with basic wheels and interiors. there were also 69 ZL1 427 1969 camaros made, but i have a srtong feeling that the car you're talking about ain't one of them.
