Yeah, that's a problem. Flat tappet lifters and the cam lobes wear together as a set. Swapping them around could give an uneven fit between the two, which could eventually result in a wiped out lobe or badly dished lifter.

I will NEVER buy a summit cam again. I bought on for my pickup about 4 or 5 years ago. There made by Elgin I think but anyhow. The lifters were constantly needing to be adjusted. It was giving me fits. The damn lifters were dicintagrating. I still have one down in the basement on the wall of shame. That cam and lifters pumped enought metal through my new motor to wipe out the bearings in less than 5000 miles Then I get a letter from Summit later saying the lifters that were sold to me were a factory defective if "they came in shrink wrap" the ones that came in boxes were ok. Some I called and the offered to replace my cam with and new one but would not do anything to replace the motor.

I will not buy anything Summit brand again unless it's something simple. The past few things I bought had to have a good bit of fabrication to fit and the quality isn't that great. Guess you get what you pay for. :\

^ 77nomad, other than that, did you like the setup?
I'd really think hard about buying a house brand when it comes to critical internal parts. As far as Summit brand parts, I've heard that some are name brand parts that are private labeled for them, and other things are major manufacturer "factory seconds". Sounds like you found out which one you got.

Yeah, luckily my parts bought Summit brand have all been mounts and external hardware. I only buy stuff that's warrantied and has a rep for taking abuse for internal stuff.
