it's just for the next time the engine gets tired.
most times a guy while build just one engine for his ride.
others are going to need four or five a summer!

i'm worried about what goes in your tranny ... so you should be too!!!
stock clt and plates are no match for all those ponnies. lol
if you had a 400 th it would have been closer
but a good aftermarket stage 2 or 3 tranny would be the best bet
it is possible to get what you need to build yours , but it needs to be done perfectly
really easy if you can get your hands on full kit and you have the tools to compress the piston springs, a set of small seal picks, the bushings need paticular tools usually one for removal and sometimes one for installing. did i mention the manuel for your tranny to help you if you get mixed up. a place to clean and then assemble a perfectly clean tranny.

A 383 is typically a .030 over 350 (4.030") witha 3.75" stroke. That gives 382.667" engine.

mmmm nice stuff for sure!!!
but ... keep in mind what you want as a car in the end.
if you put too much power in the thing you should plan on diff upgrades , axles , frame connectors , suspention mods , tires , wheel wells , etc ...

Was your second sentence in reference to the first one? The T400 is a three speed.
