350 to 383

when i do my engine upgrade would i have to do anything to my transmission or rear end?

it's border line - to o.k. but it will for sure bring down the life expectancy.
depends alot on driving style and bad habits

what if i used a B and M rebuild kit on the tranny? would that be strong enough?

hey didn't you used to have th 400 as transmission and now you changed it?
how much hp is the b&m kit rated for?
is it just the shift kit or a complet clutch and rebuild kit

my friend corrected me, kind of embarassing. its a 3 speed automatic on my car. the rebuild kit does not specify how much horsepower, but it says it has all the parts to make it a street/strip tranny from them.

If I'm not mistaken, to get a 383, you need a 0.060" bore. The stock bore for a 350 yields a 377 when using the 3.75" stroke crank. 350's use a 3.48" stroke. Chevy 302 (not the 305) 327 & 350 all use the 4" bore.
The other posters are correct about th balancing. Summit & Jegs sell kits that have an internally balanced 3.75" stroke crank for about what it costs to put a 400 crank in one.

DISP BLOCK BORE CRANK STROKE
302 4.000 3.00
305 3.736 3.48
327 4.000 3.25
350 4.000 3.48
377 4.000 3.75
383 4.060 3.75
400 4.125 3.75

Ok so your kind of way off.
377 is 4.125x3.48
383 is 4.030x3.75 or 4.000x3.800 (GM Performance Parts ZZ383)
As for the others I won't speak on them cause I'm not POSITIVE. Exept the 400.

the packages im looking at range from 4.030 to 4.060, im not sure yet which one i should go with

if you bore your block out 030 it can still be bored more after .
a block at 060 over tends to get chucked out when it;s time to rebuild again.
some guys wont even buy a motor 060 over even if it;s running
