Default 3.73 or 4.10?

So for the longest time i thought i had gears in my car but i dont. I have the stock 3.42 that came in my car. So should i get 3.73 gears or 4.10 gears. The 4.10 will give me worse gas mileage right? Right now at about 2500rpm im going 55mph any idea what i'll do with a set of gears? I have a 3-speed auto. Thanks, James

i got 370's in mine with a 454 and a turbo 400 and i turn about 3200-3300 at 70mph.373 is a good gear, got good pick-up and is alittle better on gas than the 411 will be.i'm not 100% but i think you will have to change out the carrier to.i know going from a 308 to a 373 ,you have to change the carrier

I have 4.10 in my 77camaro In my sig they say4.56 but I never got aroung to changing that. 4.10's are the way to go if you take it to the track on the weekends. but if its just a friday night/cruisen car I would go with 3.73's

as long as you don't go to a 4 series gear, you will be ok with any 3 series gears.

I would also steer clear of any 4 series gear if you do ANY highway driving. it really kills your top end. it also makes it harder to keep traction around town too

10 years in the 11's no problems the diff cover /girdle is ben on for 3 years . your not getting it .it only survied because of a lack of traction ,rarely useing slicks, and being a automactic.it runs solid 11.4s at about 120 the mile per hour is fast for the et most of my 60 foots are in the 1.7s this also is a slow time for the et pointing to a lose of traction.1000 horsepower wont break my rear cause it will spin but with traction it would snap em.but a slower with less power say runnig low 12's but was geting a dead hook with slicks and a stick shift it would proably break the rear and a c clip failng can kill you.
