Cool 2ND Gen hood clearance on Big Block Swap

Sorry to ask for advice on old questions, but I'm new to Camaros and I'm putting a 454 in my '79 Z-28 and would like to reuse my stock hood. I plan on a modest build using an Edelbrock RPM intake, Holley carb, and a traditional open element air cleaner. Will I encounter fit problems when I close the hood? If so, can I cut out some of the sheet metal on the hood itself and then have it fit under the Z-28 hood scoop? I'm sure many of you out there have done this. Maybe some even have dimensions as to where to cut, general advice , etc. Thanks for any advice.

I have a big block with an Air Gap intake and there's no way i could reuse my stock hood. I have a 4" cowl hood

Hold on a minute. Remember Chevy put big blocks in Camaros and did use the stock hood! If you want to get it all to fit under the hood you'll need the Chevy low rise 4 barrel intake, and a drop base aircleaner. Then it will fit and not have to chop the hood.
My '71 came with a big block and stock hood, and I changed to a aftermarket intake so I had to change hoods at that time. The stock Chevy low rise works well for most applications, but is not a high rpm intake, as it's good to around 5,000 rpm's.
I see them on Ebay often, but they were all for spreadbore carbs, so don't go that route if you don't want to use a spreadbore Holley or Edelbrock carb.
