2nd gen
Yup we are on the to having a desired car. HotRod has two center folds with second gens this month. They had a nice late second a couple months ago. I just don't like my car being refered to as a "disco Camaro."
The older they get,and the fact that they are getting harder to find will definitely continue to make them more valuable.More and more of them are getting cut up for parts so the supply of potential project cars is dissapearing faster and faster,so the less of them thier is the more people will pay to get one.
I sit here and think of all looks I've gotten over the years. "yeah I have a Camaro" "oh yeah what year?" "78" then the look and "oh, my (fill in the blank) had a 69 that was so fast." How many of us have had that conversation?
Haha, yeah i know how you feel.Only difference is around here it's the 3rd and 4th gen cars everybody seems to think are the best camaros ever made lol. When i mention i have an 81 i usually get "oh you have one of those old ones" haha.
After owning mine for nearly 38 years, I've heard it all. The most common (and still heard) "well it wont ever be as valuable as a 1st gen." Or, It's OK, but it's not as good as a 1st gen."
Seems for many years the 2nd gen Camaros were looked down on and regarded as nothing special. Then the prices and desire to own them seemed to begin to climb about 10 years ago. In the last few years it has gained a lot of attention, but unfortunately a bit too latye for many collectors.
As mentioned previously the 2nd gens were scrapped out, and subframes robbed for project cars with little concern about saving them for what they are. There's still a lot of them around, but not nearly as many as the 1st gens, so it's not as easy to find nice solid 2nd gens anymore.
