I've got a 74 Camaro that I want to put a big block in with a turbocharger. I'm thinking of getting a 1st gen but I'm wondering which one has a larger engine bay?

 

1st gen u can make bigger by taken out the fender wells but u have to make sure u have clearance from the header to a arms tight fit for a bb. not ure about 70 style

 

you can fit it in either. a friend put a twin screw set-up on a 502 in a 69 so if money isn't an issue, it shuold be a no-brainer. 1st gen all the way baby!

 

I have a 74 with a big block, there is a little room left,but the same goes if you drop the wheel wells. If you have the money it will fit.

 

I think the 1st gen will allow more hood clearance but other than that, They're about the same. The 1st gen will be a little lighter also.

 

1st gen will be my choice but I hate that they're so freakin expensive compared with 2nd gen especially since I've already got the 74.

 

If money's not an issue, stick with the 2nd gen. You already have it, it's slightly more aerodynamic as a drag car, and you see more 1st gn draggers so your 74 will be more unique..

 

I would keep the 74 as well,with both car's you would need a cowl hood. If your not a big fan of the bumpers,then just paint them to match the car. Other then that,at least you have the rear window of the 70-73 car's.
