you can find a mid 70's monte carlo or el camino for cheap for a doner. i found a 73 monte carlo that got backed into by a garbage truck for $100. 350/th350 and scrapped the rest for $250.

 

What V6 came in an 81 Camaro?
We know a 2.8/4.3 will fit and we know an inline 6 will fit.

This thread has gotten me confused. I feel sorry for the original poster. The swap is still relatively simple. Guess he may or may not need a tranny. But a turbo 350 is only $300. If he needs a tranny he will also need a drive line.

 

i'm thinking the other v-6 that every body is cocerned with is the 231 biuck

I've kind of decided that the best option right now is to get the cheapest engine to put in just to get it out of the storage garage and I can actually start using it,

Would my best bet be to go to the junk yard and try and luck out that it fits or a new engine etc.

if anyone has any links to help me out that would help too.

If its a chevy it will fit. Thats the beauty of GM not alot of changes to deal with. Thats what some of us mentioned the donor car route. You get the engine and everything needed to put it in. Good luck finding a running SBC at the junk yard. All my local one snag those up for circle jerkers.

 

I think you'll be better off doing the donor car route mentioned by others. I'd go to your local Craiglist and do a search in the car section with a $1500 max. for Chevys. See what pops up, then go look at them until you find a driver with a horrible body, but good engine and trans, at a price you can afford.
Then you can take it home and pull engine/trans, and whatever you might need off it. Dump the rest of your leftover parts into the donor car, and sell it for some more income to a wrecking yard. It will save you a ton of money, and also give you all the brackets and accessories you'll need for the V8 swap.

Those will work. the Vette may take some work to get running. Look for a pick up or a Caprice, Malibu. Some of the other GM cars of the mid 80s came with SBCs too. Pontiac Parisenne, or Buick Park Avenues. Any g body may have one. Montes, Buick Regals, and Cutlass Supremes.

I'd pass on the first one. Never buy a donor that says bring a trialer to haul it home. You don't need another project, you need a donor that's a great driver.
But the Vette doesn't have a price, so are you sure it's even in your range as a donor. I bet it will be thousands.
