Question 1981 v6 automatic engine swap

I was wondering if anyone could tell me about swapping engines in this camaro. Right now it is just sitting in a storage building with a 20+yr old v6 engine in it.

I'm not too car savvy, so I don't know the processes of swapping engines, prices, or what would need to happen first.

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

It is rather simple to put a v8 in an 81, any good shop can do it.
I could do it in a weekend, probably one day.

Need:
V8
Headers
Radiator

That's about it.

i thought the bolt patters were the same or is that just for the 4.3l? i put a 305 in a 86 scttsdale a few years back and und used the same tranny the only difference is that it didn;t have a kickdown cable. the motor we took out was a 4,3

Some the trans from that era had duel patters. They could fit Buick or Chevy. I would not know till you pull the motor. There maybe someone here that knows how to tell the difference by the outside of the case?

Either way I am not sure I would want a tranny set up for a v6 behind a real V8.

Yes, the 4.3 is the V6 that has the same pattern as a V8. It's essentially a sawed-off 350.
And the 4.3 is a truck/van engine, not a car engine.

I think the tranny will fit. I did a swap in an 80 ish C10 and the tranny fit.
