1981 Camaro Ignition Problems

Default 1981 Camaro Ignition Problems

i have a 1981 camero with a 305, and i have nop turn key power. i do have power all the time, but when i turn the key nothing happens, no dash lighst come on, car won't start, power don't work everything that is turn key power dosn't work. I think that it is something with the ignition switch but not 100% sure, So if somebody has had this problem or no what it might be can u please help thanks

That sounds like the ignition switch. You could also have a bad starter relay.

I found the problem, a guy at a parts store said it could be a fuseable link between the starter and ignition, I couldnt find this link, so I spliced some wires at the firewall and now the car runs. A friend of mine did the same thing with his '81 Chevy truck

that fusible link should be that smaller red wire on the b+ of the starter because i had that same problem with my 77 camaro. just give it a tug and see if it stretches
