Default 1980 Z28 loose steering

Hi, new here to this site, and new to my 80 Z28. Car seems to wander the road while driving. A check of the steering components shows a new center link, and steering seems responsive when turning steering wheel. Is it an issue with the gear box? Or does the front end need a more thorough examination (I'm sure this isn't a bad idea regardless). Thanks for any help anyone may be able to give me.

need a little more info. Often this wandering is caused by tire, and wheel combo. What are you running up front for tires and wheels? Also could be ball joints, so even if the tires are OK, need to check for slop in the joints.
Best way to check things out is to jack the car up and let the wheels hang free. Then grab the tire at top and bottom, and wiggle it hard to see if there is play. Then do the same thing side to side, and repeat on both sides. It helps to have a buddy do the wiggling while you look with a light for play at the various ball joints and steering joints.
