I've heard of the Pontiac Phoenix model, but not the "package". I'm guessing if it exists it's a Pontiac only package. Might be something to run past one of the Pontiac forums to see what diehard Pontiac members say.
I've got a friend who's a diehard Pontiac guy. I'll email him and see what he might know.

Just because NADA has it doesnt make it real. You need an RPO number to start with. You could be looking for something like an SLP Firehawk, where the cars were sent from the factory to be modified by SLP. ASC sunroofs did all the third gen convertibles off line this way too.

FYI (in case you didn't know), the "bird" decal on the hood of a T/A is called a Phoenix. From Greek mythology, the symbol represents a bird that rises out of the ashes of it's predecessor, and the T/A bird has flames that surrounds it. Perhaps that's where the T/A and Phoenix connection is coming from.
In contrast, the Pontiac Phoenix car from the 1980's, built off the Citation platform, should have just stayed in the ash pile!

I would say that was GM's low point.

I doubt GM would have a trim package and a model with the same name. That being said here's your car.

FWIW a lowly Pontiac j2000 had some much influence on this gear head its indescribable. This was a custom flip top body with a SBC that sported TWO 6-71 blowers and TWo turbos. I cant find it right now but this is one of those 80's over the top Pro Street customs that got me going in this lifestyle. They even made a model of it.

Ahh found pics. Ugly right? Also listed as one of HotRod's top 100 most influential of all time. I could care less if this one even started.

"Now the Excitement Begins". What a laff! Oh man, with the exception of a very few, the 80's were so lame in the car design, and performance department.

I totally hear ya 69. Tell me if I missed any of the potential 80s hot rods here:
1. Trans Am- nice looks, had some torque, but lacked horsepower
2. Iroc- nice looks, had some torque, but lacked horsepower. Disappointing that neither of these potential rodz could be ordered with a 350 tied to a manual transmission with or without T tops. That was lame. I assume it had somthinng to do with the transmission being so weak, it just couldn't handle either the torque or the hp, maybe both.
3. Grand National- great looks, awesome technology for the time period. Disappointing you couldn't order a manual transmission.
4. SS Monte Carlo - Great looks, but a dog slow 305. Again, not being able to order a 350 or a manual transmission was downright disappointing.
I think that was it for 80s GM excitement. I could be missing something but I don't think so. I purposely left out the imitation 442 from Oldsmobile, seeing how it sported an already tired 307 from the station wagon drivetrain, its not even worth listing as a potential hot rod.

OK, I finally heard back from my POntiac guru, who said he'd never heard of this option, so he contacted his friend who's an officer in the Pontiac Club of America, who said there isn't any Phoenix option on a Firebird, Trans Am, or any Pontiac he knows of.
Might be as surmised that the seller is mistaking the flaming chicken on the hood as a "Phoenix option.
