Default 1971 radiator coolant overflow

I have a 307SBC and noticed that it doesn't have a radiator coolant overflow. There's a hose underneath the radiator cap, but it just runs towards the floor. Did they use a tank back then?

I don't think they did but I never owned an early 2nd gen,I can tell you my '72 GMC 3/4 ton 4X4 doesn't have one and never did,my Dad bought it new so I know it's all original.

It's not missing, they never came with one on 71.
You also don't fill the rad to the top. About 2" below the top is full.
