ok i just bought a 1974 camaro roller with an m21 in it i had a rebuilt 305 sittin around so thats in it for right now just to get around but i want it to hit 12sec. on the 1/4?it has 4.56 gears,locked rear end ,headers,750dp. what all should i need im thinking of getting a pretty big cam im launching the car at 6grand suspension is done.theres notirespin.the cams im looking at arent under .530 lift?so about what should propel me to hit my goal?

 

First get rid of the 305..and get a 383....a 750 on a 305 is over carbing by about 175 cfm...next put 3.73's in the rear end...to hit 12's in the camaro you'll need about 400 hp. You'll also want sub frame connectors and good traction bars....how much do you have to work with? Maybe shoot for low to mid 13's first and go from there.

 

it has sub frame connectors,and suspension is already done i dont have traction problems even with a bb

 

what do you mean it doesnt have traction even with a big block?....what size tire are you running?

 

when i got the car it came with a 454 but it blew up so now its a 305..........28-12.50-15 m/t et street

 

if you want 12's then rebuild the 454..that would be the cheapest way to get to 12's....and you will have some traction issues with a 454...

 

i plan on it but its going to be stroked and i dont have the $$$$ right now so im waiting........so with ported heads,decent cam, intake and carb i prolly wont hit 12,s with the 305?

 

you'll be lucky to hit mid 13's with that....your car would go faster with a 600 cfm carb..or at least it would take off faster

 

i have an edlebrock 650 sittin around somewhere.......

 

I'd just save any money you'd spend on the 305 and use it for the 454.
