That's a physical aspect that can't be avoided, especially since tire technology these days also applies to higher profile tires.
How to tell if your car has been lowered? Post a side profile picture here, we'll tell you. Sure guys lower their 1st gens, some like em low, some like em high. How was yours lowered (if it was)? In the front, either lowering coil springs or dropped spindles. In the back, lowering leaf springs or spacer blocks between the leafs and spring perches.
i had the salad shooters too

lol. Seriously though, I'm willing to trade some comfort for performance. I mean heck, my Camaro rides like a Cadillac......................with the shocks welded stiff!
Just wanna make sure the guy weighs over all his options, form and function.

They are extremely good quality wheels.

Personally, I prefer 16x8 on first gen Camaro's. Tire selection for that size is not great, but as far as looks, they can't be beat. IMO.
.....OK ..I'll go with that..Now..what size TIRE do I buy for that wheel?..what is the 8"?.. 225?..what side wall?40;45?..what back space? 4-1/2"
Just got a 67 RS..with 215-70x15's on it now..I'm wanted to change the wheel style from silver ralleys to maybe AR's polished alum or Cragers etc so I thought while doing it I would go a little larger..thought maybe someone on here that had 1st gen.could save me some time measuring everything..Thanks

16" is the diameter & 8" is the width of the wheel

Tire Sizes known to fit a 67-68 Camaro's are...
16x7 195 or 205 or 225/50/16 Front & Rear
16x8 205 or 225/50/16 Front & Rear
16x8 245/50/16 Rear only

Yes. Backspace is 4.5 inches (0 offset)

I have a buddy who has 18's on his 69. Yes, he says handling is a little better, but if he rolls over a dime, he can tell if it is heads or tails.

Default Tires & wheels

I went with 17X9's (4 7/8 BS) with P275/40ZR17 all around on my 69. They fit, but sometimes they touch (max susp travel.) HTH

..visited Summit friday (20 mins from my house) and found out the selection of 16x8's are limited for the wheels that I favor and 15"x8's are plentiful..so..if I choose 15" x8 ( I def.want the 8") do I stay with the same 4-1/2" back space?
I see the site Thor mentioned and it has plenty of 16x8's but I didnt want to pay that frt..gas is not a factor to go to Summit..Thanks

Yes, for 15x8 wheels a backspacing of 4-1/2" is still good.
