If i remember right, hpipes produce a better exhaust pitch, but xpipes produce better power. i doubt you are going to notice it much eithe rway though

I was just confused cause whenever I see newer Camaros with exhausts they got x-pipe but whenever I'm looking at Older Camaros, Chevelles, ect I see h-pipe installed I really like how the x-pipe sounds over h-pipe and yeah I heard x-pipe give you better torque down low.

newer fbodies all come with ypipes, and somepeople choose to upgrade them with a dual exhaust system.

Just trying to figure out what to get installed I don't have a powerful engine its a crappy 307 but its all I got to work with. So far I bought a used Edelbrock performer manifold and dont know if I should buy a holley street avenger 570 carb or Edelbrock 600 cfm carb and just throw a mild cam in it. I just want to make a little extra power till I can afford a 383 crate motor.

WITH THAT ENGINE, YOU AREN'T GOING TO NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE. ANYWAY,THE MAIN REASON TO CONNECT THE TWO PIPES IS TO BALANCE THE BACK PRESSURE.

I have a 69 396. I had 2.5 Xpipe off the headers between a pair of magnaflows. The problem was i couldnt get any sound out of the mags. I took x and mags off and replaced with flowmaster 44s. Great sound now, but noticebale difference in low end torque. I think i am going to put the x back under the car, hopefully not killing the rumble.

something doesnt sound right here, u should hear sound through the muffler regardless of your midpipe. did you just dump the exhaust and have no connection to the catback? something just sounds goofy in your explanation

specter:

no cats on a 69 camaro bro, heres the scenario again:

full tube headers into 2.5" mandrel bent x-pipe into 2.5 magnaflows. the pipe was then run over axel and turned down about 1/2 way between backtire andrear valance. i know it sounds strange, but my 2006 F150 with stock exhaust had more rumble. I could hear the gear drive over the exhaust when standing at rear of car. cut all that off and ran new 2.5's into flow44's and have good sound. But seems to have less bottom end torq.

crazy huh
