Default Gas Help

I have a 67 Camaro with a Chevy Small Block 400 (now a 416). It has an 850 Double Pumper Carb, Brodix Heads, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Roller Rockers, Roller Cam, Lunati Crank, Lunati Rods, Richmond 5 Speed Manual Trans, Ford 9 Rearend, Wilwood Disc Brake Set up, and much more. My question is, Should I run Premium Gas with Ethanol, or Regular Gas with no Ethanol?? I live in Oklahoma and have no idea what to put in my car....Please help....

Thanks,
Bubba

Default RE: Gas Help

Best answer is maybe...maybe not.
Recommended octane all depends on your compression ratio based on:
Flat top pistons or domed?
Thickness of head gaskets.
c.c. of the heads.
Has the block been decked?
Have the heads been shaved?
Without any of this info, anything else is just a guess.
Do you have more build specs on the engine? You may or may not even need to use more than low-grade fuel.
Best you can do is go by ear. Start with 87 and listen for a "marbles" pinging when you get on the throttle while driving. If you get pinging, go up to the next grade and try again. Remember, when you step up to the next octane rating, you will have to go through more than one tankful of gas to end up with the true octane level.
