Can anyone help me My engine has started pinking under load but only when I sit in traffic and the engine gets warm. I am running with an electric fan which come's in when the temp gauge gets around the quarter mark.
Next one the lifters get noisy on the right side again only when the engine warms up.
Last one I live in south africa so it hard for me to look around and get parts any advice on retro radio suppliers who is the best for my 1969 SS convertible

 

The pinking under a load is either from using cheap (lower octane) gas than what the engine needs, having your ignition timing set too far advanced, having a carbon build-up on the heads or pistons, or any combination of the three.
For the noisy lifters, I'd remove that valve cover and see what it looks like with the engine running. Might want to find an old valve cover and cut the top off so you don't wind up with a mess. It's possible not enough oil is making it up to the rocker arms once the engine gets hot. You should see a good flow at each rocker arm/push rod. What is your cold/hot oil pressure at?
For the radio, can you buy from places like classicindustries.com or rickscamaros.com?

45 psi is good. Was just curious that it wasn't dropping into the red zone with a hot engine. If your issue isn't oil starvation up at the rockers, then you may have a lifter or more that's bleeding down. Also when you're looking at things, keep an eye on the amount of rocker arm up and down movement you have, and that they all look or measure the same. If there is one that doesn't move very much, that would mean a wiped out cam lobe.

Thanks again I started the car from cold the oil pressure soon went to just on 40psi there was no noise so I set the engine at 2000 rpm and after 5 mins the tappet started knocking. For information the lifters are Rhodes and only done about 8000 miles but the car has been standing for 3 years while I had it rebuilt. Could the lifters have deteriorated by standing for that long. Looks like I will have to replace them.

 

With the Rhoads lifters, the noise you're getting might be what they consider normal. Read this, especially the 3rd question: Frequently Asked Questions
You might want to call them and talk to a tech person, for your own peace of mind.
