We have a 69 z28, the date stamp on the motor is 4-25, the build date on the cowl tag is 05A, what should the date code of the carburator be?

 

The Z/28 carburetor is a Holley model #4053 and would have GM #3923289-DZ stamped on it. If those numbers don't match up, it's not a Z/28 carb. Also it would have to be date stamped earlier than the build date of the engine. The date could be anywhere from a couple of weeks on up. There really is no hard set rule on the time frame between the carb and engine build, it all depends on how fast GM went through the Holley stockpile that was allotted for the Z/28.
