Default Transmission swap

Looking to change out transmission from a automatic to a manual on a 1967 camaro rs convertible. Is there a compatible transmission that i could find in a junk yard as opposed to buying a new one?

I am nor sure where you live but where I live there is almost nothing to be found in a junk yard related to a 1st get camaro. Now the first gen small block V8 which was made right up to the mid 90's shares a lot of parts. What kind of torque do you plan on having and how do you plan on using the car? Cause you could find a Saginaw 3 speed on the cheap or look at a T56 6 speeds that would just need a adapter kit.

This is not as simple as it sounds, Finding the trans is step one. How will you handle the floor? you will need clutch pedals an if you want the stock type linkage you may need to pull the motor and drill and tap the block for the Z bar. It may be less of a head ache to switch the clutch over to hydraulic. If the engine is already tapped for the Z bar then adding the original linkage is a pc of cake.

Swap meets are the best place to find parts but in these days it really is hit an miss. I have gone to swap meets and not seen a single 1 gen part and I have gone to swap meets and found the exact OEM parts I needed for less then repos cost.

Either a Muncie and or Super T-10 .Stay away from Saginaw's .They usually don`t last long behind a healthy V-8
