Traction Bar for 67
I have a 67 RS that was built before they added the traction bar. I do not have the plate on the floor pan as well. I would like some recommendations for adding a traction bar and what type. I would also like to convert my 10 bolt to a limited-slip so I do not have a one wheel wonder. I have already converted from mono leaf to a multi-leaf spring. I realize that Chevy was adding the single torque bar after the fact for early run Camaro's. This car is not numbers matching and now has a 350 with a Turbo 350 transmission. Originally it was a 327 with a power glide so I am not worried about keeping it original.

I was looking at the CalTack bars. I was wondering if anyone had experience with them. if anyone has a picture of the CalTrack bars installed on their car I would like to see what they look like as well. Thanks Everyone for your help.

If you're not going after originality, then aftermarket traction bars will do the trick. The clamp on bars like Y2K listed will work, and are easy to install. But since their design by nature puts stress on the springs compared to the type that is integrated with the lower spring plate, they're not nearly as good as other options. All depends on how many horsies your engine is putting out, and how much you plan on beating on it.

Deffinitly is not original at this point. Thanks for the help I am going to google some installed ones to see what they look like. Only enough ponies to light them up for fun.
Thanks again. |

Heck I ran that style with a 427 4 speed in my old '69 and they worked just fine with multileafs. |
Thanks Road Tripper

I used caltracs on my former BBC 67 making 650 on the engine, 150 shot of nitrous and running 9.9 in the qtr. Coupled with a 3.73 12 bolt with posi and 12.5" slicks it would hook and book with 1.4 short times. They work!!!
