I want a new tranny
I have recently found time to work on my '68 RS, and have been out of the loop for a long time. It has a balanced/blueprinted 350, last time I drove it, was running a Holley 650 on an Edelbrock manifold. It has been in storage for years, in pieces, tyranny is missing (3 speed manual) and I would like to update. It used to be pretty quick, would prefer a good four speed, even better a 5 speed. Would like a bolt on option, but am pretty ignorant. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome, Lee, to the Club - Correct year by the way.
Home Page - try here, if he does not do it, Jody will know of another. |
Last price I saw advertised for that ^ trans was $3,495.
Another option, for $100 more, is a TKO 600 conversion kit: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/a...w/model/camaro |
Thanks for the response, that was exactly what I was looking for.

For less than a grand you could put a four speed Muncie in there.

I'm on 4- speed boat also, are you drinving cross country? That be a lot cheaper and easier. You aren't making crazy power ,a 700r4 be nice option also, and it's super low first gear pulls hard.
|
yup I hear the 700r4 is the way to go an they can be built to whatever power for less then 2k desent ones $1200.00 handle 400hp or for a lot less the old th 350 or 400 auto with shift kit for $900 brand new if you want to stay with 3 speed you can also do 4th speed conversion

Why not a TH200-4R?
Driveshaft does not have to be cut and it fits. http://www.camaros.net/forums/27-tra...-vs-700r4.html |
A Super T-10 or an Muncie M-21 four speed are pretty much bolts ins.The 5 speeds sometimes are more expensive .
