Clutch adjustment

Hey awake, I dunno what to tell you. I do know that my three finger definitely needed the shorty because the long throwout was wedging between the trans and pressure plate. I'm talking about vintage parts, as this was over 30 years ago. Maybe some aftermarket diaphragm plates are a different height from OEM ones.
Dyna, are you good with a tape measure? You could measure back from the pressure plate to where the input housing on the trans would fall inside the bellhousing, and see how much length/clearance you have. The long throwout is 5/8" longer than the short one you have.

i have a lakewood bellhousing. I have the adjustable pivot ball and adjusted it so it is 4.75 inches deep in the bellhousing from the the face that bolts to the motor.
First gen camaros need this clutch fork. 3892632
Identifying GM's 3892632 Clutch Fork.
You can not use the 14066235 lakewood aftermarket clutch fork. That fork is made for 72-81 camaros. And it burys into the firewall.
I have this set up with a diaphram clutch and short bearing and it worked fine on my M20 and it works on my TKO that is in the car now.

Then the 1 7/8" (long) throwout bearing isn't going to clear. Even if it was a close fit, you have to take clutch disc wear into consideration. As the clutch wears thinner, the fingers on the pressure plate will stick out further than they are now.

The clutch place told me that with the conical diaphram I had the right bearing. I figured it was the fork when I saw the numbers on it. I am new to the manual trans thing, Ive always put or had autos in my projects. Appreciate all the help.
