There is no speed shifting this bad boy. I have a long arm hurst on it and the throw is about 2 feet, okay not that bad but still. I actually just went out and threw it a couple times and its not that bad it is pretty snappy over to the right so I could see it working. I just dont throw down in the 67, I am really thinking about taking it to the track with the SS one day. I just need to make sure someone brings a trailer just in case.

lol. I used to have an old Porsche, 5 speed with the dog leg 1-2. Reverse lockout didn't work all that well, so once in a while the shifting went: 1st-buzz reverse-oh sh**-2nd.

I ran my 74 with a Sag 3 speed while looking for new 4 speeds, I had it in twice. I beat it pretty hard but never really tried racing it. Seem like you could stay in second gear a long time. I remember shifting out of 2nd at 70ish. My shifter was crap and missed 2 gear a few times.

In my old circle track days my team ran a 4 speed but most of the teams ran 3 speeds. I am not sure why, I never asked. Maybe cost? Most of the teams had more money than us. The goal in dirt track racing is to only shift into your final drive once and stay there. Shifting is for red flags and restarts. All the gearing is in the rear.

You have a one tire frier? With the peg rear end she should be fine. You might be buying one tire at a time. All depends on how you drive it.

Again, all depends on how he drives it. I blew the spider gears up on my first 69, 307 with a 4 speed.
I didn't always baby the thing!

6 Grand clutch dumps will not help things out.

I beiieve you will find everything works with everythng else.
The bellhousing forward of the trans will work meanng everything has the same bolt pattern and same configuration of clutch.

yes, it should work well. You may have to go with a different starter to fit the flywheel for a 11" clutch though.
