Right Tire rubbing when turning right, left tire does not
I am trying to understand what is causing my right side tire to rub the fender well when I turn right. I have squared up the car and got the subframe in the right spot. Alignment is also good.
I have about a 2 1/4 in space from the front tire to the fender/ wheel well on both the left and right sides. When I turn the wheel to the left the tire still has about a 1/2 inch of clearance. When I turn it to the right the tire comes into contact with the wheel well. Turn to the Right it touches the top of the fender bolt Tires are strait
Those look like new tires. Your measurement only shows one side, so I'm assuming the others side has a larger gap between the tire and rear fender? Get that tire off... check out your ball joints, upper & lower control arm bushings? Take both front tires off and compare the two. When doing this, I would leave the weight of the car on the front suspension. (put the jack under the lower control arm at the shock) This is so you can see what is going on with the weight of the car. Sometimes the suspension will relax and you will not see the problem. If nothing, then again with the suspension extended without the weight. I'm not a pro, but that's what I would do. Hope others could help too.
Sorry, reading back again... Did you recently remove the subframe? If so, then it still may not be correctly aligned. I guess I would need more info on what work was done on the car before you found out about the tire rubbing.
