The New Girl on the Block
Heres my new 1967 Camaro Base. every things original except the motor and trans. it used to have a six banger in it, but after 20 years of sitting in a shed it seized up and the owner before me pitched it and put in a crate 350/TH350 then let it sit for another 5 years. Very low rust, almost no body work done to it.
The plan is to get her road worthy this summer and cruise around and just enjoy her then blast it and get to work on the body. the rear quarters are rusted pretty good and a few dings on the hood and front right quarter.
Somebody put an RS badge on the front grill and the fuel Tank cap was replaced with an RS cap. Ive ordered replacement badges to put it back to base model appearance. However i do have some original '67 RS taillights and i can get my hands on original RS front end parts as well...soooo thinking about making it a clone RS haha, love the way the RS package looked. anyways thats what i got so far...any updates i got ill be tossing em in here. feel free to comment away, Thanks for looking.

Congrats on the buy. Does she have a name?
Looks like sonebody fat azz sat on the header panel. Might be able to pull it up without alot of work.
As you say, get her running for the summer and enjoy the ride.

no name yet, yeah somebody bent the front down haha, haven't tried to mess with it yet, I'm right in the middle of a move into a new house so i haven't had much time to mess with her yet. heres some pics of the interior, its actually not that bad other than the center console has been rallied. it looks like somebody pulled it behind a truck down a dirt road.

So about two days after i bought my Camaro, a buddy of mine called me up and told me he had a few parts so i ran over to his house and low and behold he had an original set of American Torq Thrust aluminum mags from the late 1960's he's actually got a few sets of them and he let me snag a set of extras for a few bucks.
After i get em cleaned up a little bit my uncle gives me a call and finds out what i got my hands on and he about ****s his pants, he's got a 69 SS painted black super nice car. he tells me all about a friend of his who has a 67 RS thats almost all original except for the damn carpet and truck mat haha, long story short he get me in touch with this guy and work out a little trade and some wheeling and dealing and all kinds of promises and i get a set of American Outlaw I's for my ride and my new buddy gets a set of rims he's been looking for for years now.
So all in all everything worked out for the both us. All i have left to do is install my fuel tank and my initial check list for her is complete. Summer Cruising and burnouts here i come

Cool! glad to read it worked out.
Awesome Ansen wheels, good find.
Shifter is not '67, but this '68 and later works and less moving parts.
At one point in its life, the console served as a third seat for the front, hence, console has the typical broken corner.
Enjoy the new summer ride.

Thanks, yeah i think the wheels look pretty good on her. as for that center counsel I'm thinking about just tearing it out, its broken in so many places. yeah I've heard the interior is out of a 68, great thing about this car is theres not much original left on it, with it being a base model and all there wasn't much to start with haha, just the motor and seats. the dash is in great condition and so is the headliner, but the seats are old and wore out in the front. but the rear seats are damn near in brand new condition. anyways, its not going to be hard to get the interior looking good again. the outside is the big problem, thats where the works at haha

Installed a new 4 core radiator, the old one that was in it was out of a Buick...it didn't fit correctly and was all hacked up with lug nuts as spacers...
and dropped out the old fuel tank, it was dented in and corroded and had been bypassed by the previous owner and he put a boat fuel tank in the trunk...So i got a new tank, sending unit, filler tube, gas cap, straps and gaskets.

Good job. While you're at it, change all hoses for the fuel line. Filler tube hose can be bought from NAPA by the foot, or less.
You also might rig up the sending unit by itself and put a jumper to ground, and hook up the tan wire from the harness, add battery and check to see if the gas gauge works. Find out now before tank goes in.
FYI, multi-leaf springs added by a previous owner as '67's came with mono-leaf rear springs from GM. This is the reason for the space between the shock plate and spring cradle on the axle tube. Also, U-bolts were added at spring change time because GM used T-bolts clamping the two together. Present set-up is okay and doable.
Also FYI, ram exhaust manifolds were not Camaro/Chevy II Nova style, rams ended in '66. W-style were used, because the oulet of a ram manifold was too close to the front crossmember. Again, doable.
Good luck with the journey with her. She will do just fine.
