My Project 1968 off eBay

RE: My Project 1968 off eBay
Well after watching all what goes into the process I would love to learn how to cut and weld. I have really enjoyed this process and could see us doing this again but maybe without so much of the labor cost involved. Would like to save $ next time. That way I could say that we did most all the work ourselves and really take our time with it.

Oh yeah,I should have been more specific... I did buy that hood... I thought it was a pretty good deal considering I didn't have to pay shipping on it as it was right down the road...

Just a quick note. If you plan on buying a LS engine out of a wrecked car you could be headed for trouble. There are several items thatmay need to be changed like wiring, oil pan, and many other suprises may come up. I am planning a simular project and I would recommend a LS3 directly from GM and they now offer a stand alone wiring harness and delphi computer, or go to Turn Key Engine Supply who offers complete kits that come with everything you need including fuel pump, headers, etc. Also, if you check ebay there is a quy who offers new LS engines with new t56 trans as a kit. You never know what you are getting with a used engine and if the car was a roll over you could have an engine that may run good for a while and throw a rod later. I am speaking from experience. Good luck.

I am suprised that the oil pan would need to be changed... Would you please expound upon that? I have swapped LS type otors before and know that problems come up, but then again that is why I like doing this stuff. I know it can be done and I know there are problems to solve. I will only buy my motor from a reputable source, but I will have a hard time buying a turn key motor that is roughly $15k.
If you have any suggestions as to what I can expect with the swap I would appreciate it!

RE: My Project 1968 off eBay
So I have been a bit swamped with things going on at work to really work on my ride. It eats me everyday to see my car sitting waiting in my garage with nothing to show for the last two months. I have been working on a lot of things for my work that will hopefully pay off soon. Unfortunately, my father passed away as well, so that soaked up over a grand of my savings for this car... that is above the emotional drain and what not. I am hoping to get back into the garage but it gets to be over 98 degrees in there because the sun beats down in there in the afternoon. IT SUCKS.

So I actually got a chance to get into the garage this weekend. I spent acouple of hours in there and cleaned up a bit. I did get to do a little bit of metal work which was a real morale booster for me. Here are the pics of the patch that I am making for the forward part of the Pax side rocker.
