Default My Project 1968 off eBay

Hey guys. I am new and am glad that I found all this forum. There is a lot of info here and I am grateful for it! Iam surethat most people probably come here to ask questions and never give answers or contribute to help other people out, so I won't be that way... At least I will try not to be that way!

Anyway, I recently purchased a 1968 Camaro that according to the VIN was a 6-cyl. I won the car at auction off eBay and drove 7 hrs to get it. I am still optimistic about it, but I know that it is gonna be a helluva lot of work. Luckily there were a few extras that came with it, but not the stuff that I really need like...an engine. The thing that gets me about this is that no matter what kind of car it is/was... There are some things that I really wish that they hadn't done to it...Like race it. I am speculating that this car was a racer because of the cheap-a#@ way that they welded subframe connectors on and toed/cambered the crap out of it. They also cut out what I am assuming was a rotted trunk and screwed in some sheet metal and strapped a gas tank to it. Same with the floor boards...There is absolutely no interior to speak of except an electric blue Grant steering wheel that makes me laugh when I look at it. I really hate that I have to undo a lot of the crap that some jerk did to this car...but I am optimistic though...

I have been getting all of my body panels so far from Goodmark. Has anyone had any experience with these guys? So far the stuff fits okay, needed only minor tweaking to get it to fit.

Oh, yeah i forgot... My plan is to drop a Corvette/GTO LS2motor in it with the T-56 tranny and a Ford 9-in rear (I know buta guy I know talked me into it) Since it has no chance of really being a "show car" or a collector because some one didn't care enough to take care of it... I am going to resto-mod it with a modern twist...All LED lighting, angel eye headlights, 4 link rear, all sort of goodies, but I am on a budget so one thing at a time.

If anyone has any questions about GM cars/trucks, I may be able to help... thanks for looking at my thread!

Looks nice, and I agree with the 'lectric blue steering wheel, it does make me laugh!
As for the body panels, they should work fine, when I test fit all mine before tearing it apart for therebuild everything fit great.

Looks like a good start, and once you're done it will be exactly the way you want it. Buying one finished is a lot easier, but there are always things that others do that don't make sense, or don't fit your taste and standards. I see a battery tray on your list. Since you're going resto-rod, have you thought about putting the battery in the trunk? I put mine in the trunk to have less clutter in the engine bay, and to move some weight from the front to the back. Just a thought.
