my 69 camaro project

RE: my 69 camaro project
I think it will take a few more months before I am driving her. My finances have gone south for a bit so I am trying to do things that dont cost me any money for now. This past sat I went back to put on the pushrods and the rockers on the heads. That went great. Then I attached the intake manifold and as I was torquing the bolts on the front corner, one hole cracked and on another a piece broke off. So that had to go. Bob seems to think that the crack was already there and we didnt see it and that it may have been warped. And thanks to a good friend I am getting another manifold.
Other than that Bob got my cowl put on.
And I spent the rest of the weekend soaking and scrubbing my seatbelts. And I got my seat frames all primed and painted.

Well we are really close to paint now. Bob's got the hood on and fitting well. He has one more thing to do to the door gap and then we go to the booth.

RE: my 69 camaro project
ok so for an update. Not alot of work has been done to the camaro. Life has prevented me from doing anything. Last week I tore up my left hip getting out of a car that sits low to the ground and I was trying to lift too much as I was getting out. I never felt such pain in my life, so I cant really do too much let alone get dressed in the morning and go to work. Plus I have been having lots of problems with my 17 yr old son. He no longer has a drivers lisence. I took that away from him.....but that is another story..........anyways on to the update....
Bob finally got themustang that he is restoring all done and home to its owner. You can see a bit of it sitting behind my camaro in one of the pics I am about to post. He now can go full steam ahead on my camaro. He got all the door gaps fixed by welding thinrods to the edges and smoothing them out.You can seefrom the pics that there is now the base red coat all around thebottom of the car. OnceBob gets thewhole car base coated, it will get the translucent cherry color on it, then the clear. After that it will sit and cure for a week before it will come home to me so I caninstall the interior, the rest of the motor, & exhaust. Finally it will go back to Bob to get buffed out and all the trim and emblems will go on. I am hoping to get this beast done by christmas.

Sorry to hear about the hip orocker, hope it gets better asap. Glad to hear I'm not the only one that "Life" has held up progress on. I'm sure you saw on my last post that I just went 9 months without touching my ride. Your Door gaps look like they finished up nicely, cant wait to see the paint finished. Do you have alot of Interior work to do? Good luck with you Christmas Finish Date! It'd be nice to be out Driving that RED SLED around on Christmas morning now wouldnt it!!!

Well life has gotten alot better and my hip has recovered nicely. But mostly my car has finally gotten a coat of paint on her. I am so happy with the way she turned out. The first few pics are of the base red color.
Bob's son got to paint my camaro. It was his first paint job. Bob has been teaching his son the business for the last few years and I think he did an awesome job. Here he is painting on the cherry top coat.
On the left side of the hood is the cherry top coat
And here is the finished product.

Glad to hear you are doing better, the paint looks like it turned out great. I love the color. You're gonna have to change your signature pic to the nice shinny one now! Now I've got to get back to work, youre making the rest of us look bad. Keep up the good work.
