I have a big block you could have had......

Should have called me.

Oh wait, did I mention that the #5 cylinder is completely cracked and the #5 exhaust valve on the head is missing too....

Nice additions to the car. What size motor is it, 396, 427, 454???

I'm not surprised that your evil pumpkin could do that damage. What does surprise me is that you didn't do more damage. LOL

As for the motor, it's a 454. The guy I got it from was taking it out of an El Camino. He said he didn't know too much about the motor but he did say it was in a Chevelle once. So he kept the headers.

My best educated guess from the research on the block and heads indicates this as a 78' motor.

That's just enough motor that might just get you into some trouble.....LOL

Good tranny too.

What tranny was in your car? If it was a PG or T-350, you'll need a new cross member for the T-400 and I think the driveshaft is different as well.

Good score though.

With the purchase of the 454 I also got a turbo 400 tranny. He told me that it was freshened up, (whatever that means). I guess I'll find out in time. You're right about the drive shaft. I need a new one. My mechanic told me not to worry about that.

I think I'm in really good hands at this time. The guy working on the car grew up with these cars and motors. For the last couple of years he was dead against working on this project. Now, he looks very excited to be working on it. He often tells me of stories of yore, when he would race against Nova's and Chevelles.

Did a little work on the car today. Installed new coil springs and a disc brake conversion kit for the front. Still waiting for shocks. Maybe on Monday.

Keep going buddy, looks good.
Stupid question time, the new coil springs that you just put in, are they for a big block?

Yeah, of course! I order the bb coil springs, crossmember, headers, and frame mounts from Jegs. Parts showed up real quick. They were very helpful when I was ordering the headers. Hopefully they go in easy.

I'm still going to need a rad, power steering and rubber for my rims. I'm thinking 225/60/15 for the front and 235/60/15 for the back.

Keep in mind when ordering your front tires that some disc brake kits move the wheels outward a bit.
