Default 1st gen F-Body X Jaguar Idea

Hello, so this is my first post on this forum and i have found a fun project idea that I want some feedback on.

so how I got the idea for this project is that I like that old muscle cars look from the late 60s and early 70s and especially the first gen f-body but those cars are pretty expensive and already in a restored state, but I want a project car.

this is where the idea starts, I own a 1999 Jaguar s-type and I saw that some people had used corvette chassis and put 1st gen Camaro body shells on top. So I though how close is the S-type to the Camaro in size, (I looked at the measurements for both) and it is actually pretty close I also looked into the Jaguar XJ and they are also pretty close.

so my idea is to put the outer parts (more or less body parts) of a 1st gen Camaro on top of a Jaguar (S-type or XJ) but still use Jaguar components like the engine and probably the rest of the parts too, I don’t know how exactly I would do this but I just thought of it and wanted to ask for some feedback on this. I already know it will take time, quite a bit of money, some skills with cars and that it won’t be easy.

one of the reasons also Why I want to do this is because I like jaguars and want some newer parts in the car that the 1st gen Camaro doesn’t have, but I don’t want to destroy an old classic car that is why I want to do this because I can find cheap jaguars that no one wants, that i could then use for this project.

please give me some feedback on if you think this will work or not.
I am also in the sketching stages so I might show a sketch on how I would want it kinda to look.

have a good one!

Anything is possible but it would be a whole lot easier to update a 1st gen Camaro with what's readily available and there's a plethora of kits and parts out there to bring old Camaros up to modern specs ,engine drivetrain suspension etc.that bolt in including wiring for modern engines and transmissions gauges and more.
Heck you can build a complete '69 Camaro from scratch with all new parts including a complete new body and a modern drivetrain and suspension.
That said if you have your heart set on a Jag/ 1st gen Camaro you'll still need to find a body and they don't go cheap even in terrible condition if there's a clear title.

Thanks for the feedback

I get what you are saying but buying a brand new body with new parts will be pretty expensive same as buying an old 1st gen camaro because all of them are pretty much restored and in good condition,

I also was not thinking of buying a wrecked 1st gen body, I was thinking of kinda molding my own body, I know a guy who has done that for some of his project cars so how to do it wouldn’t be hard because I have someone with experience with that.

As for the roof and A-pillars for example I was thinking of changing them to be more straight like the 1st gen f body, maybe even using the same ones from a jag but straightening them out to have the right form, same for the roof.

so this is mostly in the idea/sketch stage but I think it would be a fun project and it also would be a 1/1 when you go to car shows for example.

and where I live there are plenty of jags that need work that I can buy, so that won’t be a problem.

Also a Quick question for someone that owns a 1st gen Camaro

I would like the measurements for the door, like length, height and width (not including windows)

would really appreciate it!

Wish I still had one, owned a '69 for 14 years but that was decades ago.
Had to let it go when I was buying a home and had young kids,oh if I'd only of known what they were going to be worth now!
