Painting interior plastic molding
Would somebody please help me or enlighten me on the proper way to paint plastic . Restoring a 67 Camaro, which is almost done except for the interior. I ordered and received, from Classic Industries, the plastic headliner molding that goes around the rear glass and the windshield. The only color it came in was black. The instructions was to paint the plastic the color that I needed. Now comes the nightmare. I used the cleaner that removes any oils or grease, I used the spray on adhesive promoter, and also the spray paint I needed. I followed the instructions on all the cans by spraying on a 3 light coats each time and allowed the proper drying time between each coat. After the final coat had completely dried I was still able to scrape off paint with my finger nail using little pressure. What did I do wrong? Why was the paint that easy to scrape off? What's the secret here to getting the paint to stick?
Thank you for any advise you can give. Unless you can tell me where to get the plastic molding in the color I need.

What kind of paint, was it just the right color or was it the stuff especially made for painting plastic interior parts?
I went to the auto paint store for the right stuff when redoing the interior in my '78 GMC pickup and it worked great.
