Default Kick panel speakers

I have a 68 convertible with the vented kick panels. The vent in the panel has a lever that opens to allow air in. It’s not ducted. There is just air flowing into that space. I want to upgrade my stereo system and install kick plate speakers. Will the air flowing into that area impact the speakers?
thanks

I just finished my 67, I couldn't find a way to install speakers in the stock kick panels although I wanted to. There just isn't space , with the door hinges and body bracing .I finally broke down and bought replacement panels that allow for speakers, however I had to sacrifice the air vent. Doesn't your car have Astro ventilation ? What I did have to do was cut off the pedal for the emergency brake and weld it out wider to clear the speaker.

Those vents are open to the cowl. Rain/wash water entering the cowl runs down the backside of those kick panel vents and out a drain at the bottom. If you do use that area for speakers they need to be protected from the water.

I originally wanted to keep the vents working. but decided to block off the holes and use kick panels with the speakers built in.. I think that you would have a clearance problem with the speakers at that spot too. With the kick panels with the speakers built in, I still had a clearance problem, I ended up cutting the pedal off the emergency brake and re-welded it closer in for speaker clearance

The speakers that came with kick panels from Camaro Central are actually very good sounding speakers. I'm not using any special amps, but they are plenty loud and clear
