Default Dome Light Melted

So I was working on my drivers side window. Pulled it all apart to fix a floppy window. Found that the inner sash channel is not in place or in the car at all.

Anyway back the melted light housing. I think I had the door open for a couple of hours and it was about 75 degrees in my shop. I went to get a water and came back and could smell hot plastic. I look at the dome light and it had dropped about 1/4 inch. I popped the lens out and the lamp out and it had melted the housing.

What gives? The light bulb is the standard one you can get from all the aftermarket suppliers. I don't recall this happening to any other car that I owned, including the same era. I'm sure I left the interior light on overnight at least once and it didn't happen. Cheap reproductions???

Maybe a higher wattage bulb than what should be in there?

The plastic housing was probably a repro and used cheaper plastic material than factory. Replace the bulb with an LED bulb which uses much less power and never gets HOT.

+1 LEDs are great last a lot longer than regular bulbs too.
