Is it a NOR or a LOS car? If it is a LOS car more than likely it doesnt represent the X code your friend told you to look for. X codes to represent "SS" or "Z28" were only on later production NOR cars.

No way to tell really on a LOS car. Will have 4 leaf springs, 12 bolt. But if someone has changed it out it may have that anyway.
